All surfaces must be sound, clean, dry and PRIMED. Make any necessary wall repairs prior to applying. Priming gives you a clean surface to texture and increases adhesion. A white latex primer is sufficient for nigh surfaces. A white oil-based primer/sealer should be used on plaster, woods paneling, in kitchens and bathrooms, on stained surfaces or in very dry climates.

Drywall and Plaster – Deep cracks and holes in walls and ceilings should exist filled (and taped if necessary) with a spackling paste or joint compound. Drywall joints should be taped. Nail heads or other exposed metallic surfaces should be primed. Plaster walls should exist cured, secure and sound before priming with an oil-based primer. Caution: Old plaster may contain excessive lime that can cause "hot spots" that preclude primer and/or texture from adhering properly. Annotation: Homax® Polish Roll-On Texture will be sufficient to encompass hairline cracks and minor imperfections.

Physical, Brick and Cinder Block – Fill in the mortar evenly with a quick setting compound to create an even surface. Let to cure completely before priming and texturing. Note: This texture is non a waterproofing product. If the concrete surface is below grade and subject area to moisture, first repair whatsoever holes or cracks with a concrete patch or masonry plug, so treat the surface with a basement paint or water sealer.

Forest Paneling - Fill in the grooves evenly with a quick setting compound, if a smooth surface is desired. Let to dry, then prime with an oil-based primer. For sleeky paneling, crude up the surface with sandpaper or employ a paint de-glosser before priming.

Semi-Gloss or Loftier-Gloss Painted Drywall – Smooth, glossy surfaces should be sanded or de-glossed and cleaned of any balance earlier priming.

Wallpaper – Practise Not Use texture straight over wallpaper. One time wallpaper is removed, launder off all wallpaper residue. If agglutinative residue remains, apply a thin coat of joint compound over the adhesive. Allow to dry out and so prime prior to texturing.

"Popcorn" Ceilings – For unpainted popcorn: Moisten the surface and scrape off the popcorn from the ceiling. If painted, removal techniques differ depending on the type of paint on the surface. Consult your local paint dealer for recommendations. Then prime number the surface before texturing.
